TikTok is currently testing a set of tools for developers that could one day allow creators to create augmented reality effects on the popular app.
According to TechCrunch, the platform is called TikTok Effect Studio. It is currently in private beta. According to TikTok, Effect Studio is an experiment at the moment and may not be fully launched.
TikTok could build it, however, as it would be a practical product. Both Snap and Facebook offer AR developer programs that encourage users to create new effects for their respective platforms. This seems to be a simple way to keep your audience interested by outsource the creation of new effects to people who are most knowledgeable about what they want.

Matt Navarra, a social media consultant, first spotted the Effects Studio (with a tip by Sam Schmir). The sign-up page can be viewed here on the internet (which is confusingly called TikTok Effect house), but it does not give any information about the tools that may become available in the future. You will be asked for your name, email address, TikTok username, years experience in developing AR tools and whether you intend to create effects for business or personal use.
Although the site was launched earlier in the month, it appears that it is still in its early stages of development. TechCrunch was able to speak with a TikTok spokesperson who gave an impressively vague and bland statement. According to the spokesperson, we are always looking for new ways to enrich TikTok and bring value to our community. We are currently exploring ways to provide creators with additional tools that allow them to bring their creativity to the TikTok community.
This space is for you.
