Nasa delays ISS spacewalk due to astronaut’s medical issue

Nasa has delayed a spacewalk to the International Space Station due to a medical concern involving one its astronauts.
Officials announced Monday's postponement less than 24 hours after Mark Vande Hei was due to float outside.

Officials said Vande Hei was addressing a minor medical issue. Officials noted that it was not an emergency but didn't provide further details.

Vande Hei (54), a former army colonel, is currently stationed at the space station and will remain until next spring for a 1-year mission. He is currently on his second stay at the station.

On Tuesday, he and Akihiko Hoshide, a Japanese astronaut, were to go out to install a bracket to support new solar wings. The work could be delayed by Nasa.

According to Nasa, the spacewalk will be rescheduled following this weekend's planned supply run by SpaceX as well as a September series spacewalks on Russia's orbiting lab side.
