TOP STORY - Mbappe rejects PSG contract. Real Madrid is open to him?

The Spanish media have speculated about a possible move by Real Madrid after reports that Kylian Mbappe rejected a second contract renewal offer from Paris Saint-Germain.

France's RMC Sport claimed Monday that PSG's star forward turned down a new five year deal with the option to extend it with a sixth. There were only seven days before the transfer window closes.

Marca's headline, "PSG now opens the door to Mbappe", was Tuesday's headline. Marca stated that a transfer of 150 million is "more feasible than ever," but there is still a feeling of "maximum caution” at the Bernabeu.

Diario AS, however, claims that both the player and PSG are now aware that the best option for them is to accept a transfer. On its frontpage, the newspaper claims that Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Juventus to join PSG as a replacement.

Spanish radio station El Larguero was more pessimistic Monday night. Manu Carreno, a well-connected host, stated that the situation had not changed and that PSG didn't want him to go now. The most likely scenario was that Mbappe would join Real Madrid free of charge next summer.

ESPN reported last week that sources indicated that Man United was also interested in Mbappe's arrival when his contract expires.

09.29 BST: Manchester United still want Rennes' midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, although a move to Old Trafford seems unlikely, sources told ESPN's Rob Dawson.

According to reports in France, Camavinga played his last match for Rennes in the Ligue 1 club's attempt to sign the midfielder before his contract expires.

Camavinga has one year remaining on his deal, and will be available for a free transfer in 2022. He was previously capped by France three times.

United are interested in the 18-year-old. However, Old Trafford feels that Camavinga would rather stay in France with Paris Saint-Germain than move to Spain. Camavinga's future remains uncertain due to PSG's move in Lionel Messi and a shortage of money for transfers in LaLiga. The transfer window will close on August 31.

08.00 BST: Sources tell ESPN's James Olley that Corinthians are in negotiations to sign Arsenal winger Willian.

After a disappointing first season, the Gunners' 33-year old has two years left on his Emirates Stadium contract. He joined them from Chelsea last summer on a free transfer.

Arsenal want to cut their wage bill and trim their squad. They have spent more than 130m in new signings during the current window. Sources claim that talks took place over a deal that may not require Corinthians to pay a fee.

Willian is paid a minimum 100,000 per week salary. However, Mikel Arteta has made it difficult for him to find work. After testing positive for Covid-19, Willian missed Arsenal's Premier League defeats at Brentford and Chelsea.

Willian is believed to want to remain in Europe and has not reached an agreement with the clubs. However, the club is considering the move due to the fact that his career has been stalled in London.
