Urban Meyer discusses the foot injury that running back Travis Etienne sustained in the Jaguars' loss to the Saints preseason. (0:22).
A source close to the league said that Travis Etienne, Jacksonville Jaguars' rookie running back, is out indefinitely after suffering a midfoot injury in Monday's preseason loss in New Orleans to the Saints.

Schefter was told by a source that Etienne's left foot injury will need further testing. After the game, Etienne was seen wearing a protective boot.

Stephania Bell, ESPN injury analyst, says that midfoot sprains are susceptible to a wide range of recovery times. It is important to determine whether the condition is stable or unstable.

Etienne was able to catch one pass for 3 yards, and the ball was carried once for 1 yard before the injury.

In April, the Jaguars selected Etienne 25th overall. Coach Urban Meyer stated that he intended to have him play receiver and run back, much like Meyer did with Percy Harvin in Florida.

Etienne was the ACC's leading rusher (4752 yards) and left Clemson.
