Racing traded the right to sign Press in exchange for Angel City's 2022 NWSL draft pick, $75,000 allocation money, and roster protection from Angel City during the 2021 expansion draft.

Christy Holly's side had obtained her rights during the 2020 expansion draft of the former Utah Royals FC.

Press is from Los Angeles, where Angel City FC is located. She spent the 2020-21 season in Manchester United's Women's Super League. She scored four goals and assisted one in 17 games. This included the first ever goal by a woman at Old Trafford.

Press stated in a statement that "It's an amazing dream come true to represent my hometown, our friends, and our supporters."

The 32-year old was also part Vlatko andonovski's U.S. Team that won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics. She was credited with one assist and one goal during the tournament. She is a two time World Cup champion and two-time Olympian.

Her NWSL record is 46 goals and 10 assists in the 88 league matches.

Racing's executive vice-president of development James O'Connor stated in a statement that they were happy to reach a deal which would have allowed them to get a top draft pick, a substantial allocation amount, and protect their squad.

"It is nice that Christen can return to the league and play for a different team in Los Angeles. We wish her all the best in Angel City.

Angel City FC had announced earlier Monday that Freya Cooper would be their first coach.

Coombe, who was the head coach at NJ/NY Gotham FC from the end of 2021, will be joining the squad for the 2022 season.
