15 Things I Love About the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card

This blog contains links and content that I have received compensation. This site is sponsored by Citibank, American Express, Chase Barclays, Capital One, and Barclays. All opinions in this post are mine and have not been approved or endorsed by my advertising partner. I don't write about all credit card options. Instead, I focus on cash back, miles and points (and currencies that can convert into them). These offers and benefits are subject to terms.
Chase has launched its largest-ever public offer for Chase Sapphire Preferred Card: 100,000 bonus point after spending $4,000 in the first three months of account opening.

Although they have only offered 80,000 points once, it was undoubtedly the best deal for 2020. This is a huge deal considering the $95 annual card fee.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card has been the best card to earn valuable rewards points for many years. The card currently offers the largest public offer ever for the card and is, in my opinion, the best reward card offer right now.

Chase will approve customers who have received fewer than five new cards within the last two years. This means that Chase Sapphire Preferred Cards are best for those who have applied for other cards before they apply for Chase Sapphire Preferred Cards. You cannot also be a Sapphire cardholder and have not received a Sapphire bonus within the past 48 months to be eligible for this card's bonus.

These are my 15 favourite things about Sapphire Preferred.

Initial Bonus100,000. Points are worth at least $1250. However, I value Chase points around 1.8 cents per piece because of all the transfer possibilities. This is $1800 just for spending $4000 within the first three months of opening an account. This is a 45% rebate, which is nearly unheard-of. Double points on all travel and triple on dining The Sapphire Reserve earns 3 points per $1 on travel. However, I am often asked by Reserve holders if they should keep the $550 annual fee card. It is a more difficult card to be approved for, in my experience. They offer premium cabin availability, stopovers at a cost, even for one-way awards, as well as very low fees. It is rare that you can use Star Alliance miles like Aeroplan, United MileagePlus, or LifeMiles for long haul premium flight travel on Singapore. However, Singapore Airlines members can enjoy amazing award availability on many of their routes by using their own miles. Suites Class was available regularly between Australia and Europe in the past. Singapore Airlines is also updating the cabins of its Airbus A380s, one of the most luxurious commercial aircraft in the world, while other airlines consider retiring theirs. Their Suites class will be returning. United Airlines MileagePlus points can be transferred. This is a great airline because it doesn't add fuel surcharges to any awards. It also gives you easy online bookings and access to availability in Star Alliance. You can transfer points to Air France, which has great availability for business class awards and discounts up to 50%. There is a lot of space between Europe and the USA, even on West Coast routes. Flying Blue offers promo codes discounting certain markets up to 50%. These awards allow you to book travel between the city and any other European Air France or KLM flight (depending on which gateway is available). Hyatt points can be transferred to give you access to luxury hotel redemptions and reasonably priced suite awards. Hyatt allows you to spend 6000 points per night for a qualifying pay rate stay to upgrade to suites at booking. The 6000 point price does not change based on the hotel's price. You can also book a premium suite for an additional point. To upgrade a paid reservation to suites, you must pay the Hyatt standard rate daily. At a resort, you must book at least a Deluxe room in order to qualify for points.

Park Hyatt Aviara Points transfers to most airlines and hotel partners are instant. This is great as you don't have to worry about awards going missing. You don't have to transfer points to an airline program or hotel program until your needs are met. Transfers happen quickly. In my experience, Singapore Airlines transfers take between 12-24 and 36 hours. However, I have seen them take as much as 36. This is fine because Singapore allows me to put awards on hold. Then I'll transfer the points. You can use points to get statement credits. The new Pay Yourself back tool allows you to redeem points for 1.25 cents per piece in exchange for eligible card charges. DoorDashs DashPass Food Delivery Benefit: Unlimited deliveries, $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees for orders above $12 for a minimum period of one year. This means that coverage is available even for award tickets. The Card has a great look and feel. Although this isn't a reason to apply for a card, it's a stylish card that weighs more than you used to, and doesn't have any increased numbers (and there are no numbers on the card's front). AndyAndy decided to downgrade his Chase Sapphire Preferred card and make it a regular Sapphire card. He attempted to get rid of the card. He used a blow torch.

This card was available to me back in 2011. It's still a great card, especially since it is a Chase hub. You earn points at accelerated rates using Chase's no annual fees cards and then transfer them into the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card to allow you to use those points to move to hotel points or airline miles.
