Group of South Florida doctors stage walkout in protest of unvaccinated COVID patients

On Monday, a group of 75 South Florida doctors protested the flood of COVID-19 unvaccinated patients at their hospital in Palm Beach Gardens. MSNBC's Morning Joe reported.
Kerry Sanders reported from Florida that frustrated doctors are asking people to ignore the "nonsense and absurdities" they hear at public meetings, and instead focus on the benefits of vaccines. He also stated that 85 percent of ICU beds in Florida are currently full.

The New York Times reports that COVID continues its destruction of the Gulf Coast. The coast has "relatively high rates of vaccinations and often lax safety precautions." The walkout follows this report. According to the Times, Florida leads the country in hospitalizations and daily average cases. CNN reports that at least five South Florida police officers were killed by the virus in the week starting August 14.

"It's incredibly frustrating, because we know vaccines work," Dr. JT Snarksi said Monday. He was one of the protesting doctors. "And it's those who go out to talk against them that really are against doctors, medicine and science." She said, "It is not the message that we want to convey to people." Vaccines can be safe, and we must get our communities vaccinated.

Monday's FDA approval of the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine was granted. Officials hope this will increase the confidence of those who are hesitant to get vaccinated.
