Kamala Harris visited Singapore to remind the US that it is still a major power, even though the withdrawal from Afghanistan continues to be chaotic. She said that I'm here because the United States is a global leader and that we take that responsibility seriously.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration is still trying to evacuate many Americans who are still in Kabul. Yesterday, Joe Biden addressed the American people in which he once again defended the decision to withdraw from the country and the management of it. He said that he believes history will record that this was the right, rational, and logical decision.
This speech was made after a cable leaked by the American Embassy in Kabul showed the despair and anger at the situation on the ground. The cable described the situation as very physical and quoted one staff member saying they were content to die here, but with dignity, pride, and joy.
