At Tuesday's Tokyo Paralympics Opening Ceremony, Ellie Simmonds (swimmer) and John Stubbs (archer), will be carrying the Great Britain flag.
Both will compete in the fourth Games in Japan.
Simmonds, 26 years old, will be the first woman to fly the flag of GB at a Summer Games since Maggie McEleny 2000.
Stubbs, 56 years old, is the oldest member the GB team. He will be the first archer in recent history to fulfill the role.
Simmonds said, "I'm enormously honored to carry the flag for all the athletes and support staff." Simmonds has won eight Paralympic golds since her debut at Beijing 2008, aged 13.
"It is amazing to be able to go to the Paralympic Games.
"This will be the opening ceremony for me. It's amazing to just be in Tokyo, but being able to carry the flag is the cherry on top. I cannot wait to see the competition begin.
Stubbs won gold in Beijing 2008's individual compound and silver in Rio 2008's mixed team compound.
He said, "It's an absolute honor to be representing ParalympicsGB flag bearer alongside Ellie."
It is an honour for any elite athlete to be invited to the Games. It is beyond words.
It's been a difficult year, and I lost my Dad in January. He was my greatest fan and I hope if he is looking down on me, it will be saying, "Do it for the Stubbs Family John, it's worth it and you deserve." My family will be proud, I'm sure."
Penny Briscoe, the British team's chef-de-mission, paid tribute to Simmonds as well as Stubbs.
"Both John and Ellie are examples of what it means to be ParalympicsGB athletes. She said that their excellence on the field as well as their integrity and leadership are special.
"I am certain that their example will inspire the entire team to do great things in the next 12 days of competition."
