Microsoft Increasing Price of Commercial 'Microsoft 365' Plans Next Year

Microsoft announced that pricing for all Microsoft 365 commercial plans will increase starting next year to offset the "increased value” Microsoft's suite and tools have provided customers over the past ten years.

The company stated in a blog post that the changes were the first time it had substantively raised the cost of Office 365 since its launch a decade ago. Microsoft 365 notes the many ways it has gained prominence in the last year. It has added 24 apps to its suite.

Office 365 was launched a decade ago and has since grown to more than 300 million paid commercial seats. We have re-invested continuously to keep up with the changing needs and requirements of our customers. Microsoft 365 was introduced four years ago to combine the best of Office, Windows and Enterprise Mobility and Security (EMS). Microsoft Teams was also introduced that year as the only integrated solution for meeting, chat, calling, collaboration, and automating business processesright within the work flow. We have actually added 24 apps to Microsoft 365 suitesMicrosoft Team, Power Apps Power BI and Power Automate, Stream and Planner, Visio and OneDrive, Yammer and Whiteboard.

These price increases are very small and consist of $2-$4 increases.

Microsoft 365 Business Basic (from $5-6 per user), Microsoft 365 Business Premium (20 to $22) and Office 365 E1 (8 to $10), Office 365 E3 (19 to $23), Office 365 E5 (18 to $35), Office 365 E5 (22 to $38). Microsoft 365 E3 is from $32 to $36.

All changes will be effective globally starting March 1, 2022.
