The Yankees and Twins won't play Sunday. This was clear from Friday morning when the National Weather Service issued the first hurricane watch for New York in 10 years.

On Saturday morning Hurricane Henri had passed from tropical storm status to a hurricane and was moving northward. It was obvious that there wouldn't be any baseball in the Bronx by Sunday afternoon.
Why didn't they play a doubleheader Saturday afternoon instead? The Twins didn't have to beat the storm out, since they won't play again in Boston until Tuesday. Although the Yankees have a road trip ahead of them, they will play in Atlanta on Monday. Aaron Boone stated that New York's travel plans include a Sunday night flight to Georgia. This is a good bet as the storm should have passed by then.
The Yankees and Twins did not simply play a double-dip on Saturday. Therefore, the Twins must return to New York on September 13. This is an off day for them, something they enjoy during a long season that involves travel. The Twins will play a doubleheader on September 14 as a make-up for the June delay against Cleveland.
Although it was wasteful and stupid, it wasn't the worst weather-related scheduling error in New York. This honor goes to Bill de Blasio's stupid and illustriously ignorant Hizzoner. He took everything too literally when he announced Saturday night's We Love NYC concert. A beponchoed fool told a crowd in Central Park that they should go indoors, as if the concert was celebrating the end to the pandemic which continues to rage.
According to reports, the mayor witnessed a thunderstorm in an open area and thought they might be able get moving again (after getting everyone out of Central Park and back into it) at 10:15. Central Park received 1.69 inches of rain during the 10 o'clock hour. This would have been a nice punctuation to de Blasios eight sloppy years as Americas largest city. But, he still has four-and a half months to be an even bigger bozo.

He is a genius. New Yorkers don't ask. It's all part of our daily lives. It's like the local baseball team, which had Jerry Blevins as their former reliever on August 6.
The Mets have won four of the last two weeks, are 5-14 in Aug. and 13-22 in September. This has transformed a five-game lead over the National League East in June to a seven-game deficit in Atlanta, and is three games below.500 for this season.

Headline: Vikings players not expected to play vs. Colts
It would have been a great game, but it was not the case that many Vikings players played against the Colts. They lost the exhibition game 12-10 but it is fair to say that the Vikings defied all expectations by simply playing.
