MINTroduction: Flying To London Via Puerto Rico

This is my next trip report. I am very excited because I was able to fly JetBlues Mint product to London. Despacito was the title of my series, which I intended to call, but Ford suggested it wasn't funny so I will just stick with what I have.
My incredible JetBlue Mint flight to London

JetBlue officially announced in April 2019 that it would launch transatlantic flight services in 2021. This was something many of us were very excited about. JetBlue's Mint product revolutionized domestic business travel on transcontinental routes, and I was certain that the airline would do so on transatlantic flights.

JetBlue's new Mint Suite products were revealed in February 2021 by JetBlue. In April 2021, JetBlue unveiled its transatlantic economy experience. JetBlue also revealed transatlantic flights in May 2021. It is amazing to see how the airline has continued with these flights despite the pandemic. When I saw the flights were available, I knew I had to buy a ticket.

Roundtrip business class from New York to London was $1,920. This seemed fair and reasonable, as it was in line with my expectations. When tickets went on sale, I discovered that flights from other countries were significantly cheaper. I booked a roundtrip ticket from San Juan and the price dropped to $880. Talk about a deal!

If you are wondering why the fare dropped so much, JetBlue initially didn't charge fuel surcharges ($1,300 roundtrip in Mint) to connect itineraries. It was just the way it was priced. There were no tricks involved. It suffices to say that it was quickly updated.

I also paid $129 more to upgrade my JetBlue Mint Suite seat to JetBlue Mint Studio, which is JetBlue's first row seat with much more space.

JetBlue Mint Studio

If you ask me, $1,000 roundtrip for one direction in Mint Studio or Mint Suite is quite an offer. Although I did have to book the positioning flights to and from Puerto Rico, it was still a very affordable option. This would also give me an opportunity to review JetBlues economy experience.

Due to the restrictions on travel in the UK, I was unsure if I would be able go on this trip. As of August, the United Kingdom opened its doors to Americans who have been vaccinated. This was in addition to testing before and after travel.

JetBlues is a transatlantic machine that's lean and efficient.

Hotel reviews in London & Puerto Rico

Despite my quick trip, I'll be reviewing two hotels.

Dorado Beach is a Ritz Carlton Reserve property in Puerto Rico. I had heard many things about it over the years and decided to check it out since I was already in Puerto Rico.

I've reviewed many points hotels in London and decided to try something new. So, I booked Claridges. It is often considered London's most famous hotel.

Keep checking back, because both my stays were quite unexpected.
