Manny Pacquiao lost to Yordenis Ugas in Cuba on Manny Pacquiao's return to the ring following a two year absence. Ugas shocked the odds and won by unanimous decision to retain his WBA (superior) welterweight title.

Ugas was only drafted into the Las Vegas fight to replace Errol Spence Jr.

This was Pacquiao’s first fight since beating Keith Thurman in July 2019 for the WBA welterweight championship.

When Pacquiao was asked if it was his last fight, he replied, "I don’t know."

"I need to take a deep breath and decide."

The world champion in eight divisions, now with a record of 62 victories, eight defeats, and two draws, said: "That's Boxing."

"I struggled to adjust the ring. My legs were tight. My legs were tight.

Pacquiao is a Filipino politician who was inactive when he lost the WBA title.

Ugas defeated Abel Ramos to win the vacant WBA regular Welterweight title. He was then elevated to WBA super champion, after Pacquiao was removed from the belt.

The 35-year old was preparing for his first title defense against Fabian Maidana but was promoted from undercard to face Pacquiao.

Ugas won with his punches and jabs to win all three cards at the T-Mobile Arena - 115-113 and 116-112 respectively.

Ugas said, "I'm very excited, but most importantly, I want to Thank Manny Pacquiao For Giving Me This Opportunity in the Ring Today." He now holds a record of 27 wins, and four losses.

"We had only two weeks of training, but I listened to my side and it all worked out.

"I told you that I was the champion of WBA, and I proved it tonight. Although I have a lot of respect for Pacquiao, I won the fight.
