According to media outlets, a racehorse ran away from Ellis Park Saturday afternoon. He took a run down a major highway and was captured.
A Twitter video showed the horse #4 racing alongside traffic along the side of the road. Cullen Stanley shared another video on Facebook that showed the horse running towards vehicles on a four-lane highway.
He wrote that he saw a horse running at me at full speed today on I-69. I don't know how it began or ended. It's an odd time in which we live.
WFIE reported that the horse sustained a injury to her back and was fine after she was returned home to her owners.
Witnesses told the station that Bold and Bossy were running northbound on the southbound lane of U.S. 41.
WFIE, Posey County, Indiana Sheriff Tom Latham said he was driving through the area when he noticed the horse running and pulled over to grab her lead.
Ellis Park posted a YouTube video that showed Bold and Bossy riding with Miguel Mena, bucking the jockey. It was about five minutes before the start of the first race.
Mena can be seen getting up on his feet while his mount turns and bolts off.
The announcer stated shortly afterwards that there was a loose horse on track.
He later stated that she is now a late scratch in Race 1.
According to the Ellis Park video, Bold and Bossy are owned by Bantry Farms and trained and owned by Michael Ewing.
