Jesse Jackson and wife hospitalized with Covid-19

The Rev. Their representatives stated that Jesse L. Jackson was being treated at a Chicago hospital on Saturday for Covid-19.
The Rainbow Push Coalition, which is a civil rights group founded by Jackson did not explain why Jackson, who was 79, and Jacqueline (77) had to be admitted.

The organization stated that doctors are monitoring both their health. The CDC guidelines should be followed by anyone who has been in close proximity to either one of them for at least five to six days.

Both were receiving treatment at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Jackson was vaccinated with the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine by Pfizer in January. He used this opportunity to encourage Black people to get vaccinated.

The coronavirus vaccines are effective in preventing transmission and hospitalization. However, the deadly Delta variant can cause serious complications for older people and those with compromised immune systems.

Jackson revealed in 2017 that Jackson had Parkinson's disease.

Bernice King, the daughter of Jackson mentor Martin Luther King Jr. and U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro, (D-Texas), were among those who sent well-wishers on Saturday

King tweeted that she was "praying for" the reverend's wife and Castro said in a tweet: "Sending strength to Rev. Jesse Jackson and Jacqueline Jackson.

Jackson unsuccessfully ran for president in 1988 and 1984, and some historians credit these campaigns with setting the stage to Barack Obama's presidency.
