Alexandra Datig, the ex-fiancee of Larry Elder, a conservative radio talk host and California Republican governoral candidate, said to Politico that he had a gun pointed at her while high on pot.
Datig signed a nondisclosure agreement with Elder when she split up. She said that she chose to tell her story because "the State of California is on line" and if the voters elect to recall Governor. Gavin Newsom (D), who will replace Elder in September, is "a disaster".
Datig, 51, claimed she met Elder,69, at a Playboy Mansion Party in the early 2000s. However, they did not start dating until many years later. She claimed that Elder made her get a tattoo with the words "Larry's Girl" during their relationship. Datig, who was a victim to sex trafficking herself, now believes this was his way of branding her. Datig claimed that he would become increasingly hostile toward her and she was afraid for her life during an incident at their home in 2015.
Datig claimed Elder used marijuana regularly and was high while the episode was being recorded. She said that Elder pulled out a.45 pistol from their bedroom nightstand and checked if it was loaded as she was speaking. He wanted me to be sure he had it. Datig claimed that she thought it was a Phil Spctor moment, referring to the music producer who shot Lana Clarkson in her home in 2003. "My fear was overwhelming, and I knew I had to de-escalate." Datig said to Politico that she was taught by her parents to not use a gun when angry or high. He also didn't use it when he was drunk or frustrated.
Datig produced over 100 episodes of Elder's talk-show and started his blog The Elder Statement. He also runs a conservative website and has endorsed Kevin Faulconer in the recall election. Faulconer and Datig both said she was not working for him. Datig, however, insisted that she wasn't being paid. She said, "I do this because I care about California." It's about ability, and Larry doesn't have the capacity or ability to do it. Elder stated to the Los Angeles Times that he has never "flanned a gun at anybody," according to a statement.
