Saturday's image was released along with other new Taliban propaganda photos. These images were posted online after the Taliban took control of Kabul, Afghanistan's capital, on Sunday. The Badri 313 Battalion of Taliban fighters raised the Taliban flag to the ground wearing U.S. military gear and carrying specialized assault rifles. This was a similar position as the U.S. soldiers in the 1945 photo.
The Badri 313 Battalion, unlike other Taliban fighters is outfitted with sophisticated equipment such as combat boots, armored Humvees, body armor, camouflage clothes and weapons like M4 carbines. This gear mirrors the gear used by soldiers during World War II according to Sinclair Broadcast Group.

Shiv Aroor (India Today anchor) stated Saturday that the special Taliban unit was not only being deployed in Kabul but also to other parts of the country. He added that the militant group isn't just the sons and daughters of farmers and shepherds but "a special operations group comparable with the best in this world."
PENTAGON SAYS: ABOUT 17,000 PEOPLE EVACUATED FROM KABUL IN THE LAST WEEK.
Aroor said, "With the Taliban in power, there are every reason to believe that the militia could grow stronger." "We can expect to see more Badri 313 over the coming weeks and months."

According to Aroor, the name of the special forces unit is derived from Battle of Badr. This battle was fought by Muhammad who led an army of 313 warriors.
