Samsung Pay wallet now lets you store a digital version of a COVID-19 vaccination card

Samsung smartphones that support Samsung Pay now have the ability to store digital copies of COVID-19 vaccination cards. This partnership was announced by The Commons Project, a nonprofit healthcare organization.
First, users must download the CommonHealth app for free from the Google Play Store. Next, follow the instructions to view their COVID-19 vaccination record from participating pharmacies and health systems. After the user has access the COVID-19 credential from the CommonHealth app, the user can add it to his Samsung Pay wallet. You will find the Covid-19 Vaccine Pass on the Samsung Pay app homepage.

It is not yet clear if restaurants, schools, offices or any other place that requires proof of vaccination will accept electronic versions or if you'll need to present your COVID-19 paper vaccination card. Samsung Pay is still a small player in the mobile payments market. Apple Pay has the largest market share.

Although the electronic COVID vaccine card is still a little behind others, there has been some progress. Google launched Android's built-in passes system in June to allow Android users to store a digital vaccination card on their phones. It will be available first in the US and will require support from healthcare providers or other organizations that are authorized to distribute COVID vaccinations. Some states, such as New York and California have also introduced their own digital vaccination cards.
