Brighton has won the opening two top flight games for the first-time
To secure their best ever start to a Premier League campaign, Brighton beat Watford comfortably
It is their ninth season in England’s top-flight and the Seagulls are the first to win their first two fixtures.
Graham Potter's side continued their comeback win against Burnley by putting in a strong performance in front their fans, facing a Watford team that rarely threatens.
The Hornets were the first to show their sloppy side. They managed just two touches after kick-off before giving away the ball. In the whole game, they only had one shot on target.
For Shane Duffy of Brighton, the goal was a welcome return at the Amex. He scored the first goal after 10 minutes.
After his difficult, well-documented loan spell with Celtic last season, Pascal Gross was the highest-ranking centre-back to beat Daniel Bachmann, Watford goalkeeper, with a strong header.
After Yves Bissouma's lazy Watford defending, Neal Maupay doubled Seagulls' lead just before the half-time break.
The Malian took advantage of William Ekong's pass to Tom Cleverley, to play in Maupay. Cleverley was able to touch the edge of the box and fire past Bachmann.
This is the first time that the Frenchman has scored consecutively in Premier League games since October 2020.
After another impressive performance from Brighton, Bissouma was deserved an assist. The midfielder made sure to make the most of the Amex's returning fans, soaking up all the praises after the final whistle.
Seagulls catch Hornets and sting them
Brighton 2-0 Watford
Watford boss Xisco stated that he was looking to achieve another "perfect" performance on the road after a thrilling victory over Aston Villa.
His side was unable to move forward and seemed to have very few ideas.
Brighton's defense kept Ismaila Sarr, and Emmanuel Dennis quiet, as they were linked up for two Watford goals last week.
Dennis had the ball in the back net halfway through the second period. He skipped past Lewis Dunk and found the bottom corner. But the offside flag was up before he could unleash his shot.
Captain Tom Cleverley managed the Hornets' one shot on target. However, his effort in the 63rd minute was weak and was easily saved by Robert Sanchez.
Brighton will regret not having put the game beyond Watford's reach just seven minutes after the restart. Aaron Connolly fired wide from eight yards.
Potter's side will be encouraged by their sixth consecutive Premier League victory and an impressive start for the new campaign with Tariq Lamptey and Danny Welbeck still to recover from injuries.
"We are in a good position, but it's just a beginning" - that's what they said
Brighton 2-0 Watford - Graham Potter praises Shane Duffy's "monster in the box" performance
Graham Potter, Brighton manager, to BBC Sport: "It's a fantastic header by Duffy. He's a beast in the box. It was a fantastic goal, he is so strong and big it was hard to stop him.
"We played well in the first half, and it was nice that we got the second to give us some cushion. Watford responded in the same way we expected and when we were forced to defend, we did it well.
It is difficult to win back-to-back wins at any stage. Although we are in a good spot, it is only a beginning.
Xisco Munoz, Watford manager, to BBC Sport: "I think that we need to quickly learn about the Premier League. Positively, we performed very well in the second period.
"I believe the first half was two mistakes, one bad pass and one issue with set pieces. We conceded two goals." This is the biggest problem in the Premier League."
