According to reports, Afghans are now fighting back against the Taliban and retook three districts from its control on Friday.
Anti-Taliban groups claim that they captured 20 Taliban fighters in the attack and killed dozens more.
Afghans were openly hostile to the Taliban throughout the quick takeover.

According to reports by journalists and provinces, Afghan fighters drove the Taliban out of three districts in Afghanistan on Friday.
Friday's attack on the Taliban marked the first time in this year that Afghans have fought back against the militant group. They successfully retaken a portion of Afghanistan from them. The Taliban took control of the Afghanistan government within ten days.
The Taliban overtook Afghanistan just days before President Joe Biden's August 31 deadline for withdrawing all US troops from Afghanistan. This culminated in a total takeover by mid-2018. Biden stated in a press conference that the Taliban would not be able to take over the country and took control of it just days before.
The situation quickly became a crisis when the Taliban began to encroach on Kabul's capital. Photographs and videos show Afghans packing their belongings into cargo planes and trying to flee the country. Some footage shows Afghans falling from moving aircrafts at Kabul airport.
The Taliban took control of Afghanistan and declared it the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. This was a return to 1996, when the Taliban ruled.
According to TOLO News, a Kabul-based independent network, groups of Afghan fighters are fighting back. They expelled Taliban leaders from three northern districts of Baghlan Province of Afghanistan, located about 100 miles north-east of Kabul. According to the anti-Taliban groups, they captured 20 Taliban fighters in defeat and killed dozens more.

"Pul-e-Hesar District was taken back by the #Taliban, and fighting is raging within Deh-e-Salah (Banu) districts," tweeted a Twitter account for Panjshir Province on Friday. Local sources claim that the Taliban were attacked from many areas and have suffered heavy casualties.
On Twitter, a London-based journalist stated that Afghan officials had told him that Baghlan provincial government officials had retaken Banu and Pol-e-Hesar districts held by the Taliban.
A video was posted by an Afghan news agency showing anti-Taliban fighters holding rifles and raising the red, green and black Afghan national flag.

Afghans have been openly hostile to the Taliban throughout the takeover. For example, women protested in Kabul demanding that Taliban rule be stopped.
