Taliban fighters set an Afghan woman on fire for 'bad cooking,' report says

The Telegraph reported that Taliban fighters set fire to an Afghan woman for making a poor meal.
This is just one example of violence against women, according to Najla Ayoubi (a former Afghan judge).

Sky News' Ayoubi said that Taliban fighters are forcing women to marry Taliban soldiers.

According to The Telegraph, Taliban fighters set fire to an Afghan woman because she didn't prepare enough food.

Najla Ayoubi, a former judge, said that she received numerous reports from the insurgent group of violence against women. The Telegraph reported.

According to Ayoubi, this particular incident involved a woman from the north who was "set on fire by being accused of poor cooking," the newspaper reported.

She continued, "They are forcing people give them food and make them cook food."

Metro reports that Ayoubi said that women are being used to sex slaves.

She added that Taliban fighters force families to marry their daughters to them. "I don’t see why they would make the promise that women should go to work, when we are witnessing all these atrocities."

Ayoubi said that many of her Afghan colleagues are hiding from violence fear because they are afraid of being killed.

According to Insider's Sinad Baker, Afghan women are fearful of losing their freedoms and rights now that the Taliban have taken over Afghanistan.

Women were forbidden from working or attending school during the Taliban's rule between 1996 and 2001. They were also forbidden from leaving their homes in the absence of a man, and forced to cover their faces or face punishment.

Although the Taliban has pledged to respect women's rights within Islamic law, many people are skeptical and would prefer a return to Sharia law as it was during its previous rule.

Zarifa Ghafari, a well-known female mayor and advocate for women's rights, stated earlier this week that the Taliban "will come after people like me" and would kill her.
