OnePlus phones are regarded as the best Android smartphones because of their software. OnePlus has made OxygenOS one of the most popular software interfaces, delivering a simple layout that is customizable and quick updates. In 2021, there's another dimension to this story. In an effort to reduce costs, OnePlus has begun using ColorOS for OxygenOS. The integration with OxygenOS 11 on the Nord 2 was shown to us, but we will need to wait until OxygenOS 12 for a full picture of the potential benefits. OxygenOS 12 will be launching with OnePlus 9 RT. This new variant of the OnePlus 9 numbered series is set to debut in the next few months. Although there isn't much information about OxygenOS 12, I was able to access an internal build. This allows me to provide some insight into the UI as well as new features. My sources claim that OnePlus intends to launch the OxygenOS 12 closed Beta by August. Closed beta is comprised of just over 200 people. OnePlus often recruits its "hardcore", loyal fans to take part in the beta and provide feedback. The feedback is given to the product team, and it is taken into account when finalizing the interface. The closed beta takes between two and three weeks depending on how stable the build is. Once the changes are implemented, they will be made available to the public. This means that the OxygenOS 12 public beta should be available before October. I estimate an official announcement within just five weeks. The OxygenOS 11 public Beta was released at the end August. However, this timeline has been delayed due to the number of Android 12 issues. Many bugs and stability issues plagued Pixels using the beta 4 build. It's safe to say that manufacturers are taking longer to fix these bugs. These are the new OxygenOS 12 features.

OxygenOS 12 will receive new features that were ported from ColorOS. A floating windows mode allows you to resize windows from anywhere on your screen. This makes it easier for multitasking. A theme store is another exciting addition that allows you to modify the interface's look and feel. The OxygenOS core features like accent color customization, off-screen gestures, and offscreen gestures will remain intact. ColorOS enhancements will make the UI even more customizable. Some of these changes have been made to OxygenOS 11.3. To enable biometric authentication, you will need to create a 6-digit passcode instead of the 4-digit PIN. The new ColorOS Private Safe mode will allow you to hide sensitive documents and photos behind passwords. OxygenOS 12 won't use Google's Material You design. Instead, it will retain the OxygenOS 11 design language, with some tweaks to the notification pane, and shade. The underlying foundation of the phone has been redesigned, but the OnePlus Launcher, Scout, Scout, Shelf, and other OnePlus features such as Work-Life Balance and Zen Mode, Scout and Shelf have not changed. Users who make the switch to OxygenOS 11 from OxygenOS 11 will feel at home. These phones will soon get OxygenOS 12.

While we have to wait for OnePlus to confirm which devices will receive the OxygenOS 12 upgrade, history shows that the OnePlus 7 series (and above) should be able to switch to Android 12. OnePlus will roll out the Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 build on the OnePlus 6T and 6T. It is safe to assume that all 2019 devices will get OxygenOS 12. The Nord N series devices will not be updated. They will receive one Android 11 update, but the N10/N100 will not. Here is the tentative list for OnePlus phones that will receive OxygenOS 12 updates: OnePlus 7.
