MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace said Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's response on the coronavirus pandemic was the "biggest scandal" in the country right now.
Wallace, who was the White House communications director under President George W. Bush and had a long career in Republican politics, stated that DeSantis is focused more on strengthening his national appeal than on serving the health needs of his constituents in a crisis.
She referred to a Tampa Bay Times article about how the Republican governor is highly sought after on Fox News. This comes at a time when COVID-19 cases are on the rise in the Sunshine State. DeSantis also has been at war with parents over an order that prevents schools from using masks. Wallace said that Trump's masks were "toxic and politically motivated" and that DeSantis had taken on the role of making an argument for personal freedom at the cost of saving lives.

She said, "Your peacock-of-a governor made it on to Fox News, and is, you know? Showing off his pretty feathers, as people and children are dropping dead in Florida," to a panel that included David Jolly (former Florida Rep.), who quit the Republican Party under the Trump administration.
Wallace said, "You know, it's the biggest scandal in America what the governor is doing, but he still finds refuge on Fox News in primetime." "What's the matter?"

Jolly, who is now the chairman of Serve America Movement, argued that DeSantis was an "abject fail" in his role as "the custodian for the state's health public."
Wallace made the case that DeSantis was the centre of the biggest scandal in the United States in a week when chaos in Afghanistan and President Joe Biden’s handling of the fallout of the U.S. Military withdrawal have captivated the attention of the media and the world.
