After Google's deep dive into Android 12, the public beta of Android 12 is now available. My colleague Dieter Benn got an exclusive look at Material You's design language and everything else new. Good news! You can test it right now if your device is eligible.
It's easy to flash your phone without having to do the difficult and often frustrating task of flashing it. You can instead enroll your phone to receive the update from your mobile browser or desktop. In just a few seconds, it will be installed on your phone.
You will be able to get all future beta updates (including the final) to Android 12 on your device when you set it up. This beta is still in its infancy, so bugs could be encountered. Make sure your data is backed-up on the cloud. You might also want to reconsider loading the beta onto your daily driver.
Let's first check if your device is eligible.
What phones are compatible with Android 12 beta at the moment?
How to install Android 12 beta
This software can be downloaded on your phone in a matter of minutes. It is much easier to download the Android 12 beta for one of the Google Pixel phones.
To get a Pixel, visit the Android 12 beta website to register your phone. Click view eligible devices to see if your phone is listed. The software may be ready to download by a notification on your phone. Open the settings menu of your phone and then go to System > System update. To check if the software is available, tap Check for Update.
You can't wait for anything to happen right away if nothing happens immediately. Although it has happened in the past, the beta update was available on my phone as soon as I enrolled, sometimes it can take hours. Google claims that the software may take up to 24 hours to arrive on your phone. So be patient.
For supported phones made by other brands such as Realme, Sharp and OnePlus, please refer to the pages for specific instructions. The process of installing the phone may vary depending on its manufacturer.
