Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks' superstar, has bought a stake in Milwaukee Brewers. The team announced Friday.

Antetokounmpo follows the example of Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback: investing in small-market stars in local baseball franchises. This is what Mahomes did when he joined the Kansas City Royals' ownership group.

Brewers principal shareholder Mark Attanasio stated in a statement that Giannis is an honor to join the team of Milwaukee Brewers Investors. "Giannis, a great athlete and world champion, is an international hero."

Antetokounmpo was the first individual investor to join team's ownership group after Attanasio bought the team in 2005.

Antetokounmpo stated that the city of Milwaukee is very important to him. "It is an honor to join the Brewers ownership group. It will further my dedication and commitment to this wonderful community. I am proud of my hometown and look forward to what we can do together.

He made the decision to invest in the city's baseball team one month after helping the Bucks win their first NBA championship in 50 years.

He was reaffirmed in his commitment to the Bucks team when he signed a $228 million, five-year supermax extension in December.

The Brewers are also a good investment. The team leads the NL Central by 8 games, and has won four of its five last games.
