Capitol Police officer who shot Ashli Babbitt cleared in internal probe, according to report

According to a memo from the Capitol Police obtained by NBC News, the officer who shot Ashli Babbitt in the head has been exonerated.
Babbitt was trying to climb through a door at the US Capitol. The unnamed officer shot her.

Babbitt was one of many rioters who tried to forcefully enter US Capitol.

According to a memo from the department obtained by NBC News, the Capitol Police officer who shot Ashlibabbitt in the head has been exonerated following an internal investigation.

Babbitt was trying to get into the Chamber of the US House of Representatives by entering a door in the US Capitol. Babbitt was trying to climb up the wooden door window when she was shot.

Although the name of this officer is not public, authorities have stated that he will not be charged.

The Justice Department announced in April that the officer would not face any charges.

There are currently no further investigations into this incident. A memo from the Commander of the Capitol Police's Office of Personal Responsibility stated that "No further action would be taken in the matter."

Insider reached out to the Capitol Police Department for comment but they did not immediately reply.
