Overseas travel ‘handbrake’ must be lifted, Jet2 boss urges

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are adding more than 10,000 seats to their green list destinations for the summer. The company has urged ministers not to travel bans.
Late summer capacity was increased to Malta, Madeira and Dubrovnik, as well as Split in Croatia and Jersey.

This is due to the continued demand from customers as well as independent travel agents.

Many of these destinations were recently expanded by the company.

Additional flights are now available from Manchester, Newcastle, Stansted, Birmingham-Bradford, Manchester and Leeds-Bradford.

Steve Heapy, chief executive, stated that destinations on the green listing continue to receive a lot of demand from customers. We are responding to this demand quickly by offering holidaymakers more options and flexibility.

He added that while we are pleased to add more flights and holidays, we remain frustrated by the fact that so many destinations remain on the red list.

We are currently in the middle the peak holiday season. Therefore, we urge the government not to allow international travel. It should instead adopt the same approach to everyday life as it does to other areas.

We should all be able to enjoy our summer holidays because the vaccination program continues to be a great success.
