Martin Odegaard will be wearing the number eight shirt to Arsenal
Arsenal signed Martin Odegaard, a midfielder from Real Madrid, to Arsenal for a fee of around 30m. Aaron Ramsdale, goalkeeper at Sheffield United has also completed a medical.
Norway's Odegaard, 22 years old, spent the second half last season on loan to the Emirates.
He was present in 20 competitions, scoring two goals.
England Under-21 international Ramsdale played 38 Premier League games for the Blades last year.
Bernd Leno, Runar Alex Runarsson will be his goalkeepers at Arsenal.
Gunners boss MikelArteta stated that although there is still paperwork, his medical has been completed.
"Aaron is an experienced young keeper who has extensive international experience for England. He will be a competitor and that is what we seek to create: healthy competition, high quality competition at every position. Aaron was our ideal choice.
In August 2013, Sheffield United signed Aaron Ramsdale, Bournemouth, for 18.5m
As Arsenal's summer signings, Odegaard will join Ben White and Albert Sambi Lokonga.
As he awaits visa clearance, he will not be available to play in Sunday's Premier League match against Chelsea.
Arteta was asked what Odegaard would bring to his team. He replied: "A lot many things that he brought us last season, he made our squad better, we needed more alternatives and creativity.
"He is still very young, but he has vast experience in clubs and has unique talents for how we want to play. I am so happy that the club has made this effort.
In 2015, the Norwegian moved to Real Madrid from Stromsgodset. However, he only made eight league appearances for Spain's side. He was also loaned to Heerenveen and Vitesse, as well as Real Sociedad.
Arteta made it clear that Odegaard would return to Emirates permanently at the conclusion of last season. He has spoken since about his desire to add new players to his squad ahead of the 31 August transfer window closes.
