On Roddenberry's 100th birthday, Roddenberry announced that he will receive his own biography movie, which will be produced by Roddenberry Entertainment and Rod Roddenberry Entertainment. Star Trek: Discovery and Picards Trevor Roth co-produce the movie. Deadline reports that the script will be written by Adam Mazer (who also wrote You Dont Know Jack), a HBO biopic about Dr. Kevorkian. Although the subjects may not have much in common, Jack was critically acclaimed, and equally loved by audiences according to Rotten Tomatoes. Rod will, if necessary, make his father proud.

It is now up to you to decide who should play Gene Roddenberry. Who would do Gene Roddenberry justice? I'm still trying to figure it out, so please leave your comments. You might also be able to make your Star Trek: The Original Series dream cast. William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy are among the others. It is unlikely that the Abrams and Kelvin-universe Trek actors would reprise their roles as actors. They'd be too old anyway. Ethan Peck played Spock in Star Trek: Discovery, and will reprise the role in Strange New Worlds.

It doesn't matter how it turns out, this is Gene's birthday gift and well-deserved.
