United Asks Flight Attendants Not to Tape Passengers to Seats

America's sky is showing no signs of slowing down.
The Federal Aviation Administration proposed more than $530,000 in penalties against 34 passengers who, among other things, had been disruptive and refused to wear masks. American Airlines extended the ban on alcohol sales in planes to Jan. 18, 2022, just hours after it was announced.

These actions coincided with greater attention to United Airlines memo, which flight attendants denounced for being a publicity stunt. It was a memo in which United Airlines provided information to attendants regarding hiring, thanked them and made an odd plea.

John Slater (United's senior vice president for in-flight services), wrote that you should be aware that certain items may be needed in difficult situations. Alternative measures like tape should not be used.

This seemed to be a reference to an incident that Frontier Airlines crew members recorded last month, where they taped an inebriated passenger to the chair.
