OnlyFans prohibits sexually explicit content
Bloomberg reported that OnlyFans will begin to ban content on its website that contains sexually explicit conduct starting October 1. Mashable was informed by the platform that creators will be permitted to post nude content as long as it conforms to OnlyFans' policy. OnlyFans' Acceptable Use Policy does not currently specify which nude content will be allowed under the new rules. Mashable did not receive an immediate response to Mashables inquiry for more information.
OnlyFans made the move to attract investors because they cannot draw in enough investors despite the fact that there are many creators and users on the app. Axios has obtained documents that show OnlyFans is one the most popular and successful platforms for creators. It continues to grow. Investors aren't interested in investing because of the explicit content.
"To ensure the platform's long-term sustainability and to keep hosting an inclusive community creators and fans, it is necessary to update our content guidelines," OnlyFans stated, adding that they are making changes "to conform to the requirements of our banking partners" and "to meet the payout providers' requests."
What does this mean for creators? This is still unclear.
OnlyFans stated that they will share more information in the coming days, and will support and guide creators through the content guidelines change.
