Capitol police investigating bomb threat near Library of Congress, buildings evacuated

As law enforcement officers investigate a report of an explosive device in a pickup truck, a Metropolitan Police Department cruiser blocks the street near Washington's U.S. Capitol.
The U.S. Capitol Police are currently investigating a "bomb threat" from a truck that was parked nearby the Library of Congress. They ordered the evacuation of the Library of Congress and the adjacent House office building.

The Capitol Police tweeted that the public should "please stay away" from the area.

Washington police, including some with gas masks, were also present at the scene.

The Cannon House Office Building was notified that they should move to the Longworth House Office Building.

The FBI Washington Field Office's National Capital Response and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms responded to the call.

Currently, Congress is in recess

The White House was keeping an eye on the situation and receiving updates from law enforcement.
