'This is warfare:' Trump allies Flynn, Bannon pushed conspiracies at ritzy party backed by Chinese exile

Former White House Chief Strategyt Steve Bannon (R), greets Guo Wengui, fugitive Chinese billionaire, before introducing him to the media at a news conference in New York on November 20, 2018, on the occasion of Wang Jian's death in France on July 3, 2018. AFP
It was meant to be a celebration of a movement opposing the Chinese Communist Party. The swanky private party was held at One World Trade Center's top in June and served as a platform where former President Donald Trump's close aides, Steve Bannon and Rudy Giuliani used to spread anti-government rhetoric, conspiracy theories, and conspiracies about the 2020 election. Two shadowy nonprofits hosted the invitation-only event, the Rule of Law Society and the Rule of Law Foundation. They are connected to Guo Wengui (a Chinese exile who is an ardent critic of the ruling Communist Party), CNBC obtained a copy from the invitation. It lists Guo, Bannon, and the two new chairs for the nonprofit organizations as speakers. The invitation can be viewed here. Mike Lindell, MyPillow CEO, and Mike Flynn (ex-Trump national security advisor), spoke at the June 3, gathering. They are both well-known for spreading the false theory that Trump stole the election. Flynn stated that it was like being on the battlefield, because this is warfare. He spoke at the event which featured lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea. This is the warfare we are in. It was streamed live on YouTube and has been viewed over 30,000 times. The invitation to the event and the YouTube video have not been reported. A source familiar with the event claimed that there were up to 200 people at Aspire, the catering hall on the 102nd Floor of One World Trade Center. Aspire's sales manager would not confirm the details of the Guo-sponsored event. However, the manager stated that a 12-hour event for 200 guests with lunch and dinner stations could run to nearly $185,000. The Rule of Law Society (and the Rule of Law Foundation) are resources for whistleblowers looking to speak out against the Chinese government. Guo fled China in 2014, in anticipation of being charged with corruption. He blasted China's leadership and warrants were issued for his arrest on corruption-related charges. The press representatives of the Guo-linked foundations Bannon, Flyn, and Giuliani didn't respond to requests for comment.

An offensive of misinformation

The speakers and conspiracy theories heard at the event were consistent with the Guo-backed organisations. Graphika's report cites the nonprofits as "prolific producers and amplifiers of mis-and disinformation including claims of voter fraud in America, false information regarding Covid-19, and QAnon narratives." Last summer, Bannon resigned as Rule of Law Society chair. Bannon was released from the board after he was taken to Guo's yacht and accused of defrauding donors by his fundraising campaign "We Build the Wall". Trump pardoned Bannon, who pleaded not guilty. Dinggang Wang is listed as the new chair of Rule of Law Society in the invitation to the June event. He is a Guo ally, and anti-Chinese YouTube star. According to NBC News' report, Wang appears to have helped spread conspiracy theories and misinformation about President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden. The invitation mentions the "Chinese Communist Party virus" and the "CCP's existential danger to the US and the rest of the world in its topics. There is no indication that anyone will discuss the 2020 election. Trump lost to Biden, who continues to lie about how it was taken from him. It was described as a celebration of the Guo-linked movement, known as The New Federal State of China. The invitation stated, "It is with great joy and joy that I invite you to join me in New York City at the first anniversary of The New Federal State of China [NFSC]", Bannon and Lindell claimed that China interfered with the election.

The Director of National Intelligence declassified a government report in March that stated there was no evidence that any foreign actor tried to change any technical aspect of the U.S. election process in 2020. This included voter registration, voting tabulation, and vote tabulation. In addition, intelligence agencies noted that China had not deployed interference efforts or considered but not implemented influence efforts to alter the outcome of the U.S. presidential elections. However, the report notes that intelligence analysts did assess that China had taken steps to attempt to subvert former President Trump's election. Flynn, a Guo-backed party, falsely claimed that Trump won over Biden. Giuliani, among other conspiracies, took aim at Hunter Biden as well as the entire Biden family. Trump, Bannon and Flynn's election claims have been disproved by Republicans as well as former members of Trump's administration. After Biden was predicted to win the 2020 election, Bill Barr, then-Attorney General, told the Associated Press that no evidence had been found by the FBI of widespread voter fraud. Trump's campaign continued to spend millions in an unsuccessful fight against the election results. Trump encouraged his supporters marching on Capitol Hill as Congress signed off on Jan. 6 the election results. Many people were killed and many federal prosecutions were filed as a result of the ensuing riot. These are some of the most notable comments made by prominent pro-Trump voices during the One World Trade Center event.

"The quality and diversity of the people you have brought to this country today. General Mike Flynn is going to be with you. Bannon stated that Mike Lindell will be your General Mike Flynn. "He [Lindell] is suing Dominion for the Chines Communist Party. Bannon stated that he would prove in court that cyberattacks were made by the Chinese Communist Party on November 3rd. Bannon stated that Lindell's lawsuits against Smartmatic and Dominion voting machines would prove that China interfered with the 2020 election to defeat Trump. Dominion is also suing Lindell. "Here's the important part. "He has a lawsuit he's going take to the Supreme Court, that's going show the Chinese Communist Party interfered with the 2020 election to beat Donald J. Trump," Bannon stated of Lindell. Lindell's claims were debunked.

Before Lindell, Flynn, Trump's nemesis less than a month after his election, spoke out about the election. He suggested that people are looking to fight against the federal government. "I'm fed-up with our government. Flynn stated that he was fed up with the corruption he's seen and that it has been exposed. "Hundreds of millions of Americans see this country for what it really is. They recognize the authenticity of Donald Trump. They are aware that President Trump won the last election. It's clear." He said, "Where are America's leaders today?" We are where we should be. I'll tell you. This country is home to hundreds of millions of people who aren't ready to leave. There are patriots all over the country. I don't mean 10, but 20 million. Trump pardoned Flynn on November 2, two years after the former Marine General pleaded guilty for lying to the FBI.

Mike Lindell

Lindell, the pillow kingpin and leading voice of the extreme right, displayed a clip from "Absolutely 9-0" his new film. Lindell talks to an anonymous cyber security specialist who claims that China interfered with the election. The Dispatch, a conservative-leaning publication, spoke with experts who questioned Lindell's claims. Lindell hosted a "Cyber Symposium" this month where he promised to make public all evidence that China had hacked the 2020 elections. Reporters at the event said Lindell didn't show any evidence to support his claims. Lindell used the private anti-China meeting in June to further his claims about winning the election. Lindell claimed that he had evidence to prove China's interference in the election. If this gets to the Supreme Court, the greatest win is for them to look at it. They must look at it, and they will be heroes because we will show them how the CCP used the Democrat Party in order to attack our country with these machines," Lindell stated. In a telephone interview with CNBC on Wednesday, Lindell said that he was invited by Bannon to the event and did not know Guo. Lindell remained firm in his belief that China interfered with the election. He would not promise to release the evidence at a particular date. He said that he hadn't seen the U.S intelligence report explaining why China didn't interfere with the presidential election. This happened. Lindell confirmed to CNBC that it was true. It's one the largest cover-ups of the most serious crimes in history.
