Gillmor Gang: Who's On First ' TechCrunch

Brent Leary, a member of the Gillmor Gang shows off his wireless adaptor to stream live from his streaming studio. It's a stunning view of his console, as he toggles between closeups and the incoming feed from other Gang members. All captured in a cinematic widescreen view. As streaming becomes more common at the citizen level, live realtime video production is now accessible to almost anyone.
Brent Greenberg, his CRMPlayaz partner-in-crime Paul Greenberg were trailblazers in this field. Now we are seeing similar trends to whats happening in the creator boom. Newsletters have become a standard feature on major social media platforms. Live audio streaming is also a common feature, such as Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces. Salesforce unveiled its Salesforce+ streaming network this week and celebrated the completion of its acquisition by Slack with several enterprise spins on live voice (Huddles), and cross-company collaboration via Slack Connect.

This is the beginning of work from anywhere efforts. Streaming as a service might be an important feature of the ongoing hybrid approach in fighting the pandemic. It seems that the political battle over vaccinations and masking is going to continue for the long-term. The tech community's response should be a sign of more progress. Professionally, Scarlett Johannson and Disney are exchanging lawsuit threats while month-old contracts get ripped up. Newsletter deals are being pursued by a shrinking population of hit authors, as the New York Times places most of its star-driven publications behind a paywall. As things change, they become more familiar.

The Gang newsletter has a link to Om Maliks article on Nam June Paik (the pioneer of experimental video). I was his TA at California Institute of the Arts and borrowed Abes 3 Sony black-and-white portapacks from him to film a Firesign Theatre session. Civilization ho.
