Andrew McCabe, former FBI deputy director, blasted President Donald Trump on Thursday for "threatening law enforcement" and calling for "justice” against the Capitol Police officer who shot Ashli Babbitt insurrectionist on January 6.

McCabe said that Trump's remarks regarding the Capitol Police were "incredibly risky" during a CNN appearance.

"We know that this is a fact. He said that it is not something they are speculating about. "We've seen the effect that his words can have on his most loyal and emotional supporters before."

He said, "We saw a plot to bomb a house by a domestic extremist who had been arrested years ago and who claimed he was following President Trump's instructions." On January 6, we all witnessed the insurrectionists acting as many had claimed, that they believed they were following Trump's instructions.

Trump praised Babbitt in a Wednesday statement. She was trying to climb through a window to reach the Speaker's Lobby during riots at Capitol.

Trump stated, "I spoke with the wonderful mother and husband Ashli Babbitt who was killed at the hands of someone who should never have pulled the trigger of his gun." We know who he's. This would happen to the "other side", and there would be riots across America. But Ashli represents far more Americans than those on the other side.

McCabe stated that McCabe's remarks were similar to comments made by an organized crime figure, and not a former commander in chief.

McCabe said, "Let's face the facts." McCabe said that McCabe would threaten his subordinates if he said "we know who your are". This is the exact language a mob boss would use to threaten his subordinates.

He stated that the ex-president of the United States was threatening law enforcement officers. It is just absurd.

Trump called Babbitt "an innocent, wonderful and incredible woman" last month during a Fox News call-in.

According to a senior law enforcement official who was familiar with the matter, the former president claimed that Babbitt's victim was the "head of security for a certain top official, a Democrat", which is false.

Like Trump, GOP Rep. Paul Gosar from Arizona repeatedly pressed government officials regarding the death Babbitt. He also criticised the circumstances surrounding her death during a congressional hearing held in June.

After the June hearing, GOP Rep. Liz Cheney from Wyoming, who was fired in May for her vocal criticisms of Trump's election claims, refuted Gosar's claim that Babbitt had been "executed by the Capitol Police."
