Prosecutors claim that the group was involved in an alleged conspiracy that led to Galvan's victory over Andre Spicer (855-854) in June. According to the complaint, the scheme involved Chaouch and Morris, Reed, Streeter, who registered to vote at Dawson’s Compton address in the city's District 2, despite having lived elsewhere.
"Elections are the foundation of democracy. "We must do all we can to preserve the integrity of our electoral process and ensure fair elections," said George Gascon, District Attorney. "The people of Los Angeles County deserve and expect a government free from political corruption at all levels."
Galvan is accused of fraud in the election scheme and also tried to bribe an employee at the registrar to count ballots on election night.
