Trevoh Chalobah scored goals on loan before, but this was his first goal for his boyhood club as well as his home ground.

"When I got my score, I didn’t know what I should do. I fell to my knees. I was crying."

Trevoh Chalobah has had a very busy week.

After impressing Thomas Tuchel in preseason, the 22-year old Chelsea player made his surprise debut in Wednesday's Uefa Super Cup win against Villarreal.

He did it again on Saturday, making his Premier League debut. The Crystal Palace centre-back took the ball in his hands, drove forward, and hit a 25 yard volley that landed just inside the post. This was the third goal in the 3-0 victory.

He said that he couldn't believe the ball hit the ground. "I didn’t know it went in until I heard the cheers from the crowd. It was surreal.

Chalobah, who looked shocked when the ball was in, sank to his knees and held his face in both his hands. He was still looking blank when his team-mates surrounded him.

Trevoh Chalobah scored more Premier League goals that his brother Nathaniel who has played 51 times in England’s top flight.

Matt Upson, an ex-england defender, was present at the match for BBC. He said that it almost looked like a fearful reaction, like one of terror. It was amazing, it was real.

"His teammates picked him up off the ground like something terrible had happened. Trevoh, you've scored! He was overwhelmed with emotion."

The sudden appearance of Chalobah has been a surprise to many, especially considering Chelsea's senior internationals and large-money signings at almost every position.

Thiago Silva of Paris St-Germain, a legend who won 98 caps for Brazil and Kurt Zouma from France, were both on the bench.

Chalobah stated, "I'm totally lost for words." It's been an incredible week for me. Since I was eight years old, I have been coming to this club. It's amazing to finally play here after watching so many games at Stamford Bridge.

BBC Sport's Tuchel said that he deserves all the praise. Two excellent matches have been had by Tuchel. These are amazing things that happen in sport. He had a wonderful day.

"This is what everybody loves about football, a mixture of well-known players from abroad and players from the academy."

Chalobah, whose brother Nathaniel was a Chelsea player in 2016-17, has been on loan for the past three seasons.

He was a player for Ipswich, Huddersfield and Lorient in France's Ligue 1 in the Championship.

He said, "When I was offered the chance [to travel to France],] I had no doubts." "I knew exactly what I had to do. After playing in the Championship, it was clear that I wanted to prove my abilities in one of the most prestigious leagues in the world.

"When I started pre-season this year, my goal was to impress the manager by being the first in training, giving his what he wants, and giving everything."

He certainly did. But how far is he willing to go?

Upson stated that he didn't expect to be the Premier League's first season opener. He saw an opportunity in that position, and he has taken it. He has a foot on that ladder.

Chalobah stated: "In football, it's important that you have consistency to remain grounded and hungry while still wanting more."
