According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tony McNamara and Craig Gillespie are back for the sequel about Cruella De Vil, the socialite and thief who is inspired by 101 Dalmatians. Black Widow was also premiered on Disney's screens, just like Cruella. Johansson is adamant that money should be the main reason he goes to court.
Johanssons claims that her contract was not respected when Black Widow premiered on Disney+ the same day as in theaters. Disney made an incendiary response to Johanssons lawsuit, calling her claims particularly sad and distressing for its indifference to the devastating and long-lasting global effects of COVID-19.
Bob Chapek, CEO, commented on the situation, saying, "I will say that COVID began, and weve entered into hundreds talent agreements with our talent." They've been very, very smooth. We expect this to continue.
Hollywood is abuzz about the case between actresses and media conglomerates. Everyone has something to say. Although the media landscape has been affected in a significant way for all distributors and their creative partners, they cannot be left behind to bear a disproportionate amount the downside without the potential upside, stated Patrick Whitesell, Executive Chairman at Endeavor of WME client Stones. This agreement shows that there is an equitable way forward that protects artists while aligning studios interests with the talent.
There were rumors that Stone might also be considering suing Disney, similar to Johansson. However, this casting announcement discredits that idea. It is clear that Disney is careful about how talent is paid and their contracts to avoid this happening again. Stone must have loved the details to agree to a Cruella 2 sequel.
