Based on Anne Rice's novel of the same title, the show follows Louis de Pointe du Lac, a French aristocrat. He is interviewed by a reporter to learn more about Louis' life as a Vampire and his mentor Lestat de Lyoncourt. Variety reports that Reid is able to cast Lestat in Rices The Vampire Chronicles. This means that he could appear in multiple series on the network.

All rights to The Vampire Chronicles, and The Lives of the Mayfair Witches were acquired by AMC Networks. Anne Rice and Christopher, her son, will be executive producers for all series and films created under this agreement. Rolin Jones will write and direct the first episode. Alan Taylor will be the director. They will also serve as executive producers.

Interview with a Vampire will be released on AMC and AMC Plus in eight episodes. The Vampire saga includes Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned as well as The Vampire Lestat and The Witching Hour. Fans will be seeing Lestat for the third time. Tom Cruise's memorable performance in 1994's Interview with a Vampire was unforgettable, while Stuart Townsend played Lestat in Queen of the Damned in 2002.

I have always found The Vampire Chronicles episodic. This seems like a great way to learn more about the origins of the characters and not feel rushed, like the films.

Are there Anne Rice fans out there? What do you think of a series adaptation?
