DETROIT (Mich.) -- Craig Reynolds, the Detroit Lions runningback, describes the time between Friday night and Thursday morning as "crazy".He went from being a free agency to receiving a tryout to securing his spot for the NFL preseason against the Buffalo Bills. During that time, he scored his first ever career touchdown.Reynolds, a Pennsylvania native, led the Lions' rush with 49 yards on six runs in a 16-15 defeat at Ford Field on Friday."I introduced myself in a huddle at one time. They asked, "Yo, what is your name?" Reynolds said. "During the game, a couple of coaches introduced themselves to Reynolds. Although it's crazy, they have made it seem so easy. It's been a comfortable place to be."With 7:36 left in the fourth quarter, the last-minute signee dived in the end zone for a 24-yard touchdown. All week, the coaches encouraged me to go out and let it rip. Play, not think. ... I said, "You know, let’s go ham!"Reynolds, 25, was able to meet former Philadelphia Eagles player and assistant coaching coach Duce Stapley on Friday night. He had rubbed shoulders many times as a child with Staley.Jared Goff, Lions quarterback, said with a grin that he didn't know if he'd met Reynolds yet. He arrived last night, and I believe we saw him today. I may have met him before the game. He did an excellent job. It was great to see.Reynolds missed his flight to Detroit and was delayed twice by heavy rains in Philadelphia. He then landed in Charlotte, North Carolina for a connecting flight at 12:15 a.m. on Thursday. Reynolds woke up at 6 AM and flew to Detroit. He was then signed by Brad Holmes, the Lions general manager.Even though Reynolds lost, Dan Campbell, Lions coach, felt Reynolds' performance was impressive, especially given those conditions.Campbell stated, "We'll watch where this goes. But he's got that lookin' in his eye and he did when I walked in yesterday." It's clear that it's like, "Hey man! I'm here for competition and I don't have enough knowledge of this playbook. But you can put me there!"
