Motorola is updating its first-gen foldable Razr ' with Android 11

It's easy to forget about Motorola's folding phones when there are so many new shiny models from Samsung. But someone at Motorola must be thinking about them. A new OS update for the 2019 Razr has been released. This brings it up to Android 11, via Droid-Life. The Razr is now compatible with the OS that first hit Pixels in September 2020.Notable: Both the original Razr reboot as well as the Razr 5G became available in 2020. To avoid confusion, I'll call it the 2019 Razr since the first one was not announced until 2019.It's not too bad to get the update a few months after the much better predecessor.Although it might seem that the update for the 2019 Razr has been delayed, here's a hint: According to an Android Police report and Motorolas updates page Android 11 began rolling out to the better 2020 Razr 5G sometime in April or July. It's not bad for a first-gen Razr, but it is better than getting it almost one year after its predecessor.Motorola's updates are not limited to its foldables. Motorola's recent phones come with two years of security updates. Some higher-end models get one major OS upgrade. The Razr has already received an Android 10 upgrade in May 2020. Today's update brings it up to two feature updates. This is more than Motorola promises for its other non-folding phones. It should, considering that the Motorola phones promise two years of security updates at a cost of $160 to $400, the 2019 Razr cost $1,500 when it launched. However, this is not to suggest that a $400 phone should get only two years worth of security updates. If you still have an original Razr reboot, it is an update that you don't need before. The full list of Android 11 features can be found here. In summary, it adds chat app bubbles, more granular privacy rights, and a more feature-packed Power Menu. Do not focus too much on the new features in Android 12. It is hard to believe that they will be coming to the Razr any time soon.
