Sources: Canelo Alvarez, Caleb Plant nearing deal for super middleweight title fight in November

Multiple sources have confirmed to ESPN that Caleb Plant and Canelo Alvarez are close to a deal on a November fight. This would crown an undisputed super-middleweight champion.Sources said that Alvarez-Plant had been agreed to for Sept. 18 and that officials were just waiting for signatures before the deal collapsed at the eleventh hour. Alvarez (56-1-1, 38 KOs), turned his attention to Dmitry Bivol's 175-pound title bout. Canelo delayed his return to Mexico until November after that matchup was not completed in time for the Mexican Independence Day Weekend fight (Sept. 18).Sources say that boxing's biggest star is in negotiations with PBC to sign a one-fight deal on Fox PPV.Alvarez, ESPN's No. 1 pound-for-pound-boxer, and Plant, an undefeated 168-pound titleholder, was dead just two weeks ago. Alvarez and Al Haymon of PBC were locked in a deadlock, so the 31-year old moved on to Bivol. Plant was back in the conversation after the Mexican star chose to fight in November instead of Sept. 18.This is the fight Canelo had hoped for all along. Alvarez defeated Billy Joe Saunders in Round 9, and picked up his third, 168-pound belt.
