Former Butler Bulldogs basketball player Carlos 'Scooby' Johnson Jr. charged with rape

According to court records, Indianapolis authorities have charged Carlos "Scooby", a former Butler basketball player with felony sexual assault and rape in connection to a February 4th incident at a dormitory.According to Marion County court records, Johnson was arrested on Thursday.According to a statement from Butler University, Johnson (from Benton Harbor in Michigan) is no longer enrolled.The statement from the Butler athletic department stated that "the university takes these allegations very seriously" and that it has a zero tolerance policy for sexual misconduct and violence. "Our number one priority is safety for our students and campus community. The university offers support and resources to all students. The university cannot divulge any additional information due to students' federal privacy rights as well as the ongoing criminal proceedings.Johnson's name is no longer on the team roster at the athletics department website. Johnson was injured in the left knee and he did not play last season for the Bulldogs. He was previously named "Mr. basketball" in Division 2 of Michigan in 2020.According to the Indianapolis Star's affidavit, a Butler officer was sent to a dorm at 2:07 AM on February 4. Officer was informed that a woman had been subject to rape by "Scooby". According to the affidavit, Johnson allegedly told police that he had raped a woman by telling him to tell them (b ----)) to leave.A local hospital gave the woman a rape tool. According to the Star, DNA analysis of Johnson's blood was positive for the woman. A second sample contained a mix of Johnson's DNA with the woman's.
