Premier League: 'One signing could decide the title race, but it's not Harry Kane'

Alan Shearer will be joined by Gary Lineker, Ian Wright and Ian Wright in Match of the Day on Saturday, 22:20 BST. Watch highlights from seven Premier League games on BBC One or the BBC Sport website.Harry Kane joining Manchester City would be a great move, but I doubt it will mean that the Premier League title race for the Premier League is over.It won't be as easy as it was for City, especially since Chelsea signed Romelu Lukaku.Chelsea was able to do everything except score goals last season. There were many occasions when they had chances but didn't score.Because Lukaku is a goal scorer, that will change. They can guarantee many of them, so they spent a lot to bring him back from Stamford Bridge. They will be hugely impressed by him. He can make the difference between them becoming champions or not. This is how important he really is.Lukaku is one of the most talented strikers in the world. He is 28 years old and has reached his peak. I believe he has improved a lot from the time he spent in Serie A.He is an all-rounder who is better now. Plus, he is hungry and has something to prove at Chelsea.Lukaku will be joining a club with everything in place to win, but there are some sides that might have something to add.Lukaku was a Chelsea player who played in 10 Premier League games at the beginning of his career, but did not score. His Premier League goals were for West Brom (17 games in 35), Everton (68 games in 141) and Manchester United (28)There are four teams that have the chance to be championsAlthough it's been a brief break for football this summer, I enjoyed Euros so much that I cannot wait to see the Premier League again. There are many things to look forward too in the coming season. It will be tighter this time around, with four teams with a chance to win the title, and not just City or Chelsea. Because Lukaku was added, I am only backing Thomas Tuchel's team to win it.Manchester United was inconsistent last season, but they had probably the best transfer window, bringing in Raphael Varane, a France defender, and Jadon Sancho (a truly exciting talent). They may even bring in another player.Liverpool only brought in RB Leipzig center-half Ibrahima Konate this season, but with all the problems they have had at the back over the past few months, they are now well covered. They sustained so many injuries in this one department, it was an accident.Liverpool purchased French centre-back Ibrahima Konate, RB Leipzig's, for 36m in JuneThey are not my concern, as I know that Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah will score goals when the team is properly set up.They might need to focus on midfield before the window closes. However, they have lost Georginio Wijaldum to Paris St-Germain. I am certain they will do better than last year when so many things went wrong.Alan Shearer's top four predictions 2021-22 1st. Chelsea 2nd. Man City 3rd. Man Utd 4th. Liverpool"I would be surprised if Kane was still at Spurs in September."City, the reigning champions, are the team to beat. They have already strengthened their position by bringing in Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) as a new player.Grealish, who cost Pep Guardiola 100m and set a new British transfer record at 100m, will only improve his team. However, I wonder if they will have to sacrifice someone in their squad as they have him in. Bernardo Silva seems to be the most likely midfielder to go, and Kane could also make his way.We all await the next steps with Kane. Although it is clear that he wants Tottenham to be sold, we do not know if Spurs will negotiate or if City will offer the asking price.Kane's desire to travel to City is understandable. He has stated that he wants to win trophies. At the Etihad, he would have an incredible opportunity to do so.He would not only win, but he would also score more goals than he did for Spurs. Any striker will be enthralled by the creativity of the City players he would be playing with.Over the seven seasons Kane averaged just more than 23 league goals per season. Kane's best league total in one season is the 30, which he managed in 2017-18. He has also won the golden boot for top scorer on three occasions including 2020-21.This move is also very sensible for City. They won the league last season even though they didn't have a recognized striker, but it would be odd if they entered September with Gabriel Jesus as their senior centre-forward.Spurs want Kane but they also know that. This is why they're holding out. They would be very happy to keep Kane. He wouldn't sulk or let his performance drop if he had the choice. He will never stop putting in the effort.I would be surprised, however, if he was still a Tottenham player at the close of the transfer window. Why Vardy is key to Leicester's futureWhile I can't imagine anyone else being title contenders, Leicester should be included in the discussion when we discuss the top four. They came so close in the previous two campaigns, finishing fifth and dropping out late, respectively, but they are now the FA Cup holders and have defeated Manchester City in the Community Shield. It was a huge blow to lose Wesley Fofana, defender, in pre-season due to a serious injury. However, I believe they will still be in the Champions League places. It is still difficult to make it this time. They will need to be in one of the four teams I mentioned above to have a bad season, and still have the possibility for them.To keep scoring, they will need Jamie Vardy. In January, Vardy turns 35. The question isn't just about whether Vardy can keep himself injury-free but also if he still has one or two more seasons in the top flight. It is harder to make an impact as you age - that is something I know personally - but I believe he still has a lot to offer. That is why I expect the Foxes to be there.Alan Shearer spoke to Chris Bevan, BBC Sport.
