AP Photo/Frank Franklin IMarc Stein, a reporter for the NBA, reports that the Los Angeles Lakers have "weighed" the possibility of signing free-agent guard Isaiah Thomas. After signing a 10-day contract, the 32-year old appeared in three games in 2020-21. He averaged 7.7 points per match.Thomas scored 81 points at the Crawsover Pro-Am, Seattle. After appearing in 17 games during 2017-18, he would have his second stint with Lakers if he is able to land a deal.Thomas is most well-known for his time with Boston Celtics, 2015-17. During that time, he was awarded two All-Star selections. With an average of 28.9 point per game, he was third in scoring for the NBA in 2016-17.His career was halted by a hip injury that ended his career at 5'9", and his production has declined over the years. In 2019-20, his last major action was with the Washington Wizards. He averaged 12.2 and 3.7 points in 40 games (37 starts) with them.In 2020, hip surgery gave him the opportunity to return to the court.Thomas said that it was like night and day to him, in an interview with ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on October 2020. "There is no more pain. My full range of motion is available to me. Three years ago, I tried to be one of the greatest players in the world by playing on one leg. My children were able to help me put on my socks in the morning. He was not offered many opportunities in the NBA and is now looking to prove his worth.Los Angeles could be a great fit, as it is looking for low-cost players to fill its roster.Thomas' outside shooting may help him balance the offense. He made 41.3 percent of his three point attempts in his last season in Washington. This would allow Thomas to spread the floor with stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, as well as Russell Westbrook. The team also signed Trevor Ariza, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwight Howard, who are all older veterans.
