Marriott Bonvoy just announced its latest offer on bought points. It has the potential for being a great deal.Get a Marriott bonus when you purchase pointsMarriott Bonvoy will offer a mystery bonus for points purchased through Saturday, September 25, 2021. Different accounts will be eligible for different offers. You'll need to log in to your account to find out what you are eligible for. My accounts show a bonus up to 45% so I assume that this is the standard offer.Ordinarily, Marriott Bonvoy charges 1.25 Cents per point. You can buy a total 145,000 Bonvoy points, including 45,000 bonus points, at $1,250. That's 0.86 cents per pointed.It could take up seven business days to get purchased points posted, according to the terms. There are also eligibility restrictions that you should be aware of.If they are involved in a qualifying activity, a new member can purchase points within 30 days of enrollmentA new member can only purchase points one year after enrollment if they have not completed any qualifying activities.We have seen Marriott offer anywhere between a 25%-30% discount on points purchased, and anywhere from a 50%-60% bonus. This is due to the ability to redeem points for hotel stays and also the ability to convert Bonvoy point into airline miles at a ratio of 3:1 (and when you transfer 60K Marriott points, you get 25,000 airline mile).Here's a reminder: Marriotts has an award chart that doesn't include the possibility to stay five nights but pay four.There are many ways to maximize the value of Marriott points. In particular, if you're topping up an account for redemption, there could be a great opportunity to buy Marriott points.To give you an example of a great redemption: Last summer, I stayed in the Bodrum EDITION (which was a wonderful place). For a five-night redemption, I paid 240,000 points. That's 48,000 points per day.
