Aston Martin withdraw appeal against Sebastian Vettel's disqualification in Hungary

Vettel, aged 23 years old, won the 2010 F1 drivers’ championship. He was the youngest winner of the title.Aston Martin has withdrawn their appeal against Sebastian Vettel’s disqualification at the Hungarian Grand Prix. After his car had less fuel than required for post-race testing, the German driver was removed from the results.Aston Martin withdrew the appeal on the grounds that they felt the benefits of being heard outweighed the risks. They were unable to submit a request to have Monday's decision reviewed. The evidence submitted by the team to the governing body, the FIA, showed that the fuel shortage was due to a fuel system failure. This led to a leak that was not discovered until after the race on August 1.However, stewards decided that this was not relevant to the disqualification. This is because the rules require that cars have the correct amount of fuel and don't allow for any mitigations.Vettel's second-place finish would have been the best result for the team and would have brought them within two points Alpha Tauri, sixth in the constructors championship. This is where the prize money is decided at year's end.
