Claressa Shields returns to PFL cage on Oct. 27 against Abigail Montes

Claressa Shields, the former mixed martial artist pro, won her first win in June. She was also the boxing champion.Officials from PFL confirmed to ESPN that Abigail Montes (21), of Mexico will be her opponent."I'm always training. Shields stated on Thursday morning on SportsCenter that she is always in training. It's about learning everything and becoming a MMA fighter. It's back to the jiujitsu, back the wrestling, and back to ground-and-pound. There is so much to learn.Brittney Elkin was defeated by Shields in her MMA debut. Elkin had been dominating Shields in the first two rounds. She took her down, held her position, and landed strikes on the floor. In round three, Shields changed the game and took Elkin down. She hit her with knees as well as punches. The referee stopped the fight.Shields was originally scheduled to fight on August 27, but she will now be fighting in the final event for the PFL season. Shields is ESPN's No. The No. 2 female boxer in ESPN's women's pound for pound rankings has not been in a fight since then and she continues to train at Jackson Wink MMA, Albuquerque.She said, "We don’t forget about my boxing."
