Air France's latest lounge redesign has been unveiled this week. It is quite nice-looking.Details about the Air Frances Montreal loungeAir France completed a complete refurbishment of its lounge at Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau international Airport (YUL). This lounge measures 490 square meters (5,300 sq. feet) and can accommodate 149 guests. It also features natural light and windows that overlook the runways.Air France Lounge Montreal YULIt is stunning. I especially love the way Air France's branding has been integrated into it. The lounge features a lot of blue, grey and white. There are also touches of red. Finally, the entryway is decorated with Air France's winged seahorse symbol.Air France Lounge Montreal YULAir France Lounge Montreal YULAir France Lounge Montreal YULThe lounge can be divided into different areas depending on what guests are looking for. Flying Blue Ultimate passengers have their own private area.Air France Lounge Montreal YULAir France Lounge Montreal YULCatering is the main focus of these lounges. The lounge offers a self-service buffet that includes hot and cold food, with a special focus on French cuisine and wines.Air France Lounge Montreal YULThe most exciting thing about Air France's new catering service will be on its late-night flight from Montreal. Pre-flight dining is an option so you can get the most out of your time onboard. Pre-flight dining is available if you choose to opt for it. You will be served the exact same food as onboard in business class.Customers have the option to eat another meal or ask for the meal to be removed from their ship.Air France Lounge Montreal YULAir France Lounge Montreal YULAir France Lounge Montreal is available daily from 2PM to 10PM. It can be accessed by all Air France and KLM customers including business class passengers as well as SkyTeam Elite Plus members. Montreal is a major market of Air France due to its French connection. The airline also operates up to four daily flights from the airport (in addition KLMs service).Air France's inconsistent ground experienceI am a huge fan of Air France's transatlantic business class experience. Air France's North American ground experience is a bit of a problem.Air France has been renovating lounges such as the one in New York (JFK), and Washington (IAD) which have great pre-flight dining and are available for select flights.Air France Lounge New York JFKSome other Air France lounges are quite awful in North America. KLM Business Class flew me from Chicago to Amsterdam. I used Air Frances Lounge in Chicago. I decided to just sit in the terminal, because the lounge was so awful. The lounge was outdated and crowded. It had no packaged snacks. Worst of all, there was no natural light. (The lounge has windows but they face a dark wall or something because the picture below was taken in the afternoon).Air France Lounge Chicago ORDAir France appears to have two perspectives on its lounge network in North America. This is part of the problem. Pre-flight dining is one example of a premium lounge experience. Priority Pass members can access other lounges throughout the day. All customers are offered a slightly less luxurious experience. The moral of this story is that I hope more Air France lounges receive the Montreal treatment.Bottom lineThe new lounge opened by Air France at Montreal Airport. It looks stunning. It features a beautiful design and pre-flight meals for late-night departures. The lounge is the third Air France lounge to be completely remodeled in North America, following the one in New York and Washington. What do you think of Air France's new Montreal lounge?
