Spotify's Wear OS app is getting offline playback in the coming weeks

Spotify's new Wear OS app will be available in the coming weeks. It will support offline playback on smartwatches with Wear OS 2.0 or higher. In May, the new functionality was announced alongside the announcement of Googles collaboration and Samsung regarding the next-generation wearable operating system, WearOS 3.Offline downloads will be possible on Wear OS 2, which is not limited to the upcoming Wear OS3 watches, such as the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. Spotify claims it will work with watches made by Mobvoi, Fossil and Suunto. Wear OS 3 is the only one that has Google's YouTube Music Wear OS app. It supports offline listening and also supports offline playback.Similar to Spotify's offline listening feature on the Apple Watch launched in May, the Premium subscription is required to access the feature. Spotify claims that you can download music and podcasts from the Wear OS app by clicking the Download to Watch button. Once a podcast, playlist or album is available for offline listening, a small green arrow will be displayed next to it. Listeners can download podcasts to their watch for offline playback. However, music will need to be streamed in shuffle mode via Wi-Fi or cell.
